About Dental Crown Service
A dental crown is a full-coverage “cap” that encases the entire visible portion of a tooth above the gum line. It restores the tooth’s shape, size, and strength, while improving its appearance. Crowns are custom-made and can be crafted from ceramics, porcelain, gold, metal alloys, or high-strength ceramics such as Emax.
A crown may be recommended after: a root canal; a large cavity or fracture with little natural tooth structure remaining; cracked tooth syndrome; or severely worn-down teeth from grinding.
CEREC Technology: Many crowns can be designed, milled, and placed in a single visit thanks to in-office CEREC technology. If a same-day crown is not possible, a temporary crown protects the tooth while the permanent one is crafted at the lab (approx. 2-week turnaround).

Yes—decay can still develop at the margin where the crown meets the natural tooth. Maintaining excellent oral hygiene is essential.
Are there alternatives to crowns?
In some cases, less invasive options like onlays or bonding may be suitable. Your dentist will recommend the most conservative option.
